Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) November 16, 2006

Students in the Massage Therapy program at Pima Medical Institute, 957 S. Dobson Road in Mesa want to increase their hands-on training and are offering $ 25 hour-long massages to the public. The massages are performed at Spa Pima, an in-house luxurious, resort-style Spa facility that offers the look, feel and work environment experience of a professionally-operated Spa.

Massages by professional licensed massage therapists are also available for $ 35 for an hour-long massage. Other spa treatments include: hot stone; aroma therapy; herbal wraps and mud wraps. To make an appointment call toll free 1-877-SPA-PIMA (1-877-772-7462).

The curriculum for students in the Massage Therapy includes: Swedish Massage; Therapeutic Massage; Sports Massage; Reflexology; Specialty Massage (geriatric, pregnancy, corporate chair and lymphatic) as well as training in Anatomy, Physiology, Computer Training, Practice Development, Law and Ethics, Wellness Education, Kinesiology, Pharmacology and Pathology, as well as Asian Theory and Bodywork. The 720-hour curriculum is completed in 36 weeks for students taking day classes and 41 weeks for those enrolled in the evening program.

“Overall wellness is the growing trend,” said Christopher Luebke, campus director for the Mesa career college. “Whether they are using massage therapy to improve a medical condition or for stress relief and relaxation – everyone can benefit from having a massage.”

As part of the training students will complete an internship in Spa Pima, PMI’s Student Day Spa. The students will learn vital skills such as how to manage a clinic or spa from the front office, ordering supplies, taking inventory as well as retail product sales. The clinic will be staffed by student therapists and be open to the public six days a week.

“The Pima Medical Institute Student Day Spa will allow everyone the opportunity to experience massage therapy and spa treatments at an affordable cost, and most important, give our students real-life experience,” said Luebke.
